What is your method of teaching?

The principal method will be a blended version of e-learning method. Recorded video tapes or CDs of European teachers will be sent to students. However, it is encouraged that students meet in our local centres or via Internat chat rooms to discuss their workshop sessions before submitting them to the European teachers. In addition, there are live sessions with European teachers to discuss essays and workshop assignments.

What would be the resources and teaching materials?

The resources and teaching materials will include distance-learning packages (videos or CD- ROM), structured texts, module handbooks or books, the internet.

Is there any face-to-face element in teaching?

No, but there will be live Internet sessions with European teachers which has the same effect of face-to-face teaching. However, there is extensive face-to-face local teaching in our FUIW Chair Program that will be taught in participating universities that you can join.

Where are the local centres?

For the time being, there are three local centres in London, Beirut and Tehran.

How will you evaluate the students?

Students' performance will be assessed through written assignments and examinations. There will be a written examination on each subject, and all examinations will be rigorously and personally organized at the local centres by ITU personnel sent from London. There will be strict invigilation during examinations in the British tradition. Questions for written examinations will be set by the Module Leaders and validated by an eminent West European expert acting as the independent External Examiner. Examination books will be marked by local and European teachers. The function of the External Examiner will be to ensure that west European quality standards are achieved in all academic activities and by the graduating class. Moreover, there will be one essay for each module that affects the total marks of the students.

What happens if a student fails one or more subject(s)?

A fair scheme will be operated to deal with this. If a student fails two subjects in a given year, then he or she may be allowed to re-sit examinations in those subjects. But, if he or she fails more than two subjects, he or she may be required to repeat the entire year.

How can I get the required books?

We have given a list of booksellers that sell books online in our website. Some texts will be offered in the Blackboard. However, it is student’s responsibilities to buy or find necessary books.
